The State of Connecticut, Department of Developmental Services (DDS) - South Region's Public Division - has two (2) part-time seasonal Summer Worker - (Groundskeeping) positions located at Camp Harkness, Waterford, CT.
Camp Harkness is located in Southeastern Connecticut on the shores of Long Island Sound. The 102-acre property in Waterford CT is comprised of open and wooded land and includes tidal marsh and beachfront. Facilities at Camp Harkness include year-round and seasonal cabins, year-round cottages, seasonal tent sites, barnyard animals, picnic pavilions & grills, accessible playscape, scenic walkway and overlook, bathhouse, beach with seasonal boardwalk, gardens, dining hall, lodge, and infirmary. Camp Harkness is owned by the State of Connecticut and managed by the Department of Developmental Services.
These are part-time twenty (20) hour per week positions on the 1st shift. Pay rate is $10.10 - $11.00 per hour depending upon educations and relevant experience. Hours of Work: Part-time - 1st shift positions - Friday and Saturday - 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Thursday - 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. OR Sunday and Monday 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Tuesday 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
The incumbents will perform grounds keeping duties including cleaning and restocking lavatories, lawn care, trash collection and removal, light repairs, set-up and removal of materials for Camp activities.
These are seasonal positions and will end no later than November 7, 2019. Incumbents will not be entitled to any State employee benefits.

• Must be at least 18 years old as of April 26, 2019.
• Applicants must be able to work for the full season and must complete all required DDS training.
• Must possess and retain a valid Motor Vehicle license.

In various agencies as a summer employee performs one or more tasks and assigned duties of a seasonal nature in providing a variety of services to clients or the public in one of several areas. This class may also be used during the winter college intersession for a period not to exceed six weeks.
Minimum and maximum hourly rates will be subject to the following criteria:
1. Returning Summer Workers may receive $.50 an hour additional compensation for each season of service up to the maximum hourly rate.
