The State of Connecticut, Department of Children and Families (DCF) Albert J. Solnit Children's Center South Campus is seeking an Assistant Superintendent for its' Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF). The Assistant Superintendent is responsible for the daily operations of the PRTF; assists in the planning, development and implementation of programs and procedures. Acts in the place of the Superintendent when needed. Interacts with youth in care, their families and other stakeholders.
The Assistant Superintendent position is a 40 hour position working Monday through Friday, 8:30 - 5:30 with one or two designated late shifts until 8:00 p.m. Additional evening, weekend and holiday on-site coverage may be required. On-call responsibilities are required.

In the Department of Children and Families, Albert J. Solnit Children's Psychiatric Center, this class assists the Superintendent in directing the operations of the North Campus or South Campus.
Assists in planning and directing clinical and administrative programs; assists in establishing standard operating policies, procedures and methods of program implementation; assists with general administration including budget preparation, personnel and ancillary support services; assists in directing assigned staff in a facility; represents Superintendent on issues relevant to all facility operations; confers with visitors, relatives and professional consultants regarding clients and agency practices; may function as acting Superintendent as required; may represent facility at meetings of professional and community organizations; performs related duties as required.
Considerable knowledge of relevant State and Federal laws, statutes and regulations; considerable knowledge of child and adolescent care, education and treatment; considerable knowledge of principles and practices of institutional management; considerable interpersonal skills; considerable oral and written communication skills; ability to manage staff and clients effectively.
Nine (9) years of professional experience in a treatment facility in quality assurance, treatment or education serving children and youth with complex psychiatric challenges.
Two (2) years of the General Experience must have been in a managerial capacity.
NOTE: Managerial capacity is defined as formulating program goals and objectives, developing and implementing program procedures, initiating program policies, and developing and monitoring the budget.
NOTE: Closely related fields are: child welfare, applied sociology, social and/or human services, clinical psychology, child development, criminal justice, counseling, human development and family relations, human services, marriage and family therapy, nursing, education.
