The State of Connecticut, Department of Developmental Services (DDS) - North Region - has one (1) per diem job opportunity for a Psychologist based in East Hartford, CT.
This per diem position will work five (5) hours per week with a work schedule of Thursday, however the selected applicant must be flexible in order to meet the needs of the agency.
This position is open to the public however no permanent State Employee may work in a Per Diem position.

Incumbents in this class will be required to possess and retain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's license.
Incumbents in this class will be required to travel.

In a state facility, this class is accountable for performing the full range of psychotherapy or other professional psychological services including diagnostic testing, behavior modification, program development and evaluation, community outreach, education and training, rehabilitation and/or research.
CLINICAL: Participates in and coordinates clinical psychological services for a complex ward or group of wards or comparable units staffed by psychiatric, nursing or other patient care personnel; provides consultation on difficult cases representing complex mental, emotional and/or social problems; engages in diagnostic and psychotherapeutic services; attends staff meetings; coordinates psychological treatment modalities with other disciplines and services; develops and implements new service programs; conducts research and reports findings in a manner suitable for professional publication; consults with community agencies and organizations; conducts training sessions for interns and staff and may participate in training of psychiatric residents; may address lay and professional groups; performs related duties as required.
CONSULTING: Participates in and coordinates consulting psychology services involving behavior modification, program development and evaluation, community outreach, education and training, rehabilitation and/or research; provides consultation on difficult assignments and develops behavioral adjustment and vocational rehabilitation programs; participates in multidisciplinary service programs and treatment teams; designs experimental programs and constructs complex research models; analyzes experimental data and indices of program effectiveness; writes reports in a manner suitable for professional publication; consults with community agencies and organizations; develops and implements new programs involving expanded services and/or application of new techniques; conducts training sessions for interns and staff; may address professional and lay groups; performs related duties as required.
CLINICAL: Considerable knowledge of abnormal and clinical psychology; considerable knowledge and skill in selection, administration, scoring and evaluation of intelligence, achievement, personality and diagnostic tests; considerable knowledge of psychological research methodology including experimental design, data analysis and application of findings; knowledge of other psychological disciplines; considerable interpersonal skills; considerable oral and written communication skills; considerable ability to make clinical diagnosis and prognosis and develop treatment plans; considerable ability to conduct psychotherapy; considerable ability to write case histories, discharge summaries and professional reports; ability to coordinate clinical services with comprehensive and multidisciplinary treatment plans.
CONSULTING: Considerable knowledge of psychological disciplines including social, personality, adolescent and child psychology, research design, psychometrics and statistics, behavioral analysis and adjustment, vocational rehabilitation, community outreach and consultation and group dynamics; knowledge of developmental disabilities; considerable interpersonal skills; considerable oral and written communication skills; considerable ability to relate psychological theory to treatment, research and service programs; considerable ability to select, administer and evaluate tests of individual ability including interest, attitude, aptitude, achievement and intelligence tests; considerable ability to design experiments, conduct research studies and evaluate empirical data; considerable ability to write professional reports; ability to coordinate psychological services with multidisciplinary treatment programs.
CLINICAL: A doctorate degree in clinical or counseling psychology and one (1) year of post doctoral experience as a psychologist working under the supervision of a licensed psychologist.
CONSULTING: A doctorate degree in psychology and one (1) year of postdoctoral experience as a psychologist working under the supervision of a licensed psychologist.
