Within the Department of Public Health, Infectious Diseases Section, this Physician 2 position will serve as the Coordinator of the Healthcare Associated Infections and Antimicrobial Resistance Program and supervise staff working in the program. Responsibilities will include providing consultation to providers treating patients with antibiotic resistant infections, responding to outbreaks and unusual or novel pathogens, analysis and review of surveillance data from multiple systems, reporting and presentation of data collected by the Program, implementation and promotion of prevention and evaluation programs and oversight of federal grants that fund the Program’s work.

Experience with the microbiology and pathogenesis of healthcare associated infections and antimicrobial resistance, experience in clinical care of hospitalized patients, and the medical management of patients in an outpatient setting.
Experience with clinical and public health programs and surveillance systems designed to monitor and prevent healthcare associated infections (HAI) and antimicrobial resistance (AR), including the National Healthcare Safety Network, (NHSN) or similar national surveillance system for healthcare associated infections or other conditions.
Experience conducting infectious disease surveillance and analytic epidemiologic studies, including: (1) experience with the management and analysis of infectious disease event data, and (2) experience using several statistical packages, most notably SAS, GIS, Excel and Access.
Experience with the presentation of epidemiological data and analyses in both written and oral formats including: (1) experience producing written reports, data books, fact sheets, scientific journal articles or other written materials, and (2) experience giving verbal presentations in both formal and informal settings.
Experience in public health program administration and management including experience: (1) developing and managing federal cooperative agreements, budgets, contracts, and designing program evaluations; (2) supervising epidemiologists and other public health professionals; and (3) collaborating with internal and external partners and stakeholders.
