We invite qualified candidates to apply for the position of Qualified Craft Worker - Automotive and Mechanical Equipment at Bradley International Airport in Windsor Locks, CT. This position is full-time, 37.5 hours per week with a work schedule of 7am -3pm, Monday - Friday.
POSITION DETAILS:
As a skilled mechanic, you will perform a variety of tasks related to the diagnostics and repair of our diverse fleet of airport maintenance equipment. This includes specialized snow removal vehicles, construction equipment and light vehicles/trucks.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
NOTE: To support the safety of the traveling public, various storm events will require employees to be at work prior, during and after a storm or weather event, which as times could be up to a period of several days, and include holidays and weekends. Additionally, in preparation for the winter season, there is planned overtime to prepare the fleet and equipment. As an essential employee, there is an emergency operations assignment supporting equipment during weather events whenever services are needed, which includes mandatory winter overtime from November 1st though April 30th.

An individual serving in this position must be able to successfully undergo a thorough background and security screening, physical examination including pre-employment drug screening, fingerprinting and maintain required security clearance during the duration of employment. Incumbents in this class must obtain Bradley movement area certification, allowing them to independently operate vehicles and equipment on Airfield movement areas while effectively communicating with Air Traffic Control for proper clearance. Movement area certification must be maintained during the duration of employment.

Performs highly skilled maintenance and/or construction work requiring application of trade skills, codes and standard trade practices in electrical, plumbing, utilities, or HVACR trade areas; makes estimates of time, personnel and determines and obtains required materials; keeps necessary records; may perform duties related to similar trade areas as required; may act as liaison with other operating units and outside contacts; may operate heavy equipment; may respond to fire and/or crash emergency situations at state owned airports; performs related duties as required.
AUTOMOTIVE AND MECHANICAL EQUIPMENT: Diagnoses failure in all types of automotive and heavy mobile equipment; services, dismantles, overhauls and reassembles front ends, engines, standard and automatic transmissions, rear ends, hydraulic systems and automotive electrical systems; constructs and repairs any needed parts; welds or brazes parts by oxyacetylene torch or electric welding; may operate testing equipment required to diagnose automotive electronic components.
