The State of Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT) is accepting applications for the position of Drawbridge Attendant. This 40 hour position is located at the Stratford Avenue Drawbridge in Bridgeport, CT. The work schedule is Wednesday - Sunday from 4:00 pm - 12:00 midnight with Monday and Tuesday off.
This Drawbridge Attendant position is vital to the DOT's operation of the Stratford Avenue Drawbridge in Bridgeport, CT. It is a frontline position that is staffed 24 hours per day on 3 shifts . The Drawbridge Attendant position is required to be staffed by mandate of the U.S. Coast Guard in order to maintain the operation of the movable bridges at all times during the specified dates. The Attendant must remain on site and not leave his/her post until properly relieved. Providing a safe, efficient service to ensure compliance with statutory obligations is the Bureau's most important mission.
Each employee at this location is assigned to a specific shift, during which he/she is responsible for the following:
* operation of the bridge itself
* reports any electrical/mechanical/boating issues
* maintains an accurate daily bridge log and reports all incidents in accordance with U.S. Coast Guard regulations
