The State of Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT) invites its qualified agency employees to apply for a Transportation Supervising Engineer (Engineering) position in the Asset Management Group in the Bureau of Engineering & Construction at the DOT Headquarters building in Newington, Connecticut. This position is full time, 40 hours per week and is in the P-4 (Engineering and Scientific) bargaining unit.
This Transportation Supervising Engineer (Engineering) serves as the Transportation Asset Management Implementation Lead for the Department. This position is responsible for development and implementation of CTDOT's Highway and Transit Transportation Asset Management Plans. This position assigns, oversees, and reviews work of staff; coordinates asset management activities across the Department; assists the Chief Engineer's Office; coordinates with asset stewards and asset liasions; compiles and reports inventory, condition, lifecycle management, risk management, financial planning and investment strategies for assets; facilitates improvement recommendations; assists in preparing a wide array of reports and correspondence; assists in programming and prioritizing capital improvement asset needs; coordinates policies, procedures, and processes regarding asset management implementation.
In order to be considered for this job opening, you must be a current State of CT employee of the Department of Transportation, who has permanent state status*, and meet the Minimum Qualifications as listed on the job opening. Applicants MUST be legally authorized to work in the United States, possess Professional Engineer (PE) licensure from the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection, be available to travel to and attend training, conferences, public meetings, field reviews, etc. both within and outside of normal working hours when necessary, and have a valid Driver's license. You must specify your qualifications on your application.
*For employees in the classified service, permanent status is obtained after successful completion of a working test period. For employees in the unclassified service, permanent status is obtained after serving in a position for at least six months (full-time or full-time equivalent).

This postition requires considerable knowledge of asset management principles and the federal laws and requirements of transportation asset management plans. The selected candidate should have excellent leadership skills; excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with other Department units and federal agencies; excellent verbal and written communication skills; excellent technical skills to prepare engineering and administrative reports; and the ability to prioritize and multi-task assignments. The ability to analyze problems and recommend effective solutions; the ability to query, analyze and report data; and knowledge of data management and data governance concepts are also preferred.
1. Incumbents must possess Professional Engineer (PE) licensure from the Department of Consumer Protection State Board of Examiners for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors consistent with C.G.S.§20-302.
2. Incumbents in this class may be required to possess and retain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s license.
3. Incumbents in this class may be required to travel.
