The Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, Southwest Connecticut Mental Health System, seeks qualified individuals for the position of Principal Psychiatrist (PCN 028261), Medical Administration, Hispanic Clinic, Outpatient. Location: Greater Bridgeport Community Mental Health Center, 1635 Central Ave, Bridgeport CT, 06610. 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, 40 hours, full time.
This position is responsible for the supervision of clinical (prescriptive) services for the Hispanic Clinic. The Principal Psychiatrist will provide initial psychiatric evaluation and the prescribing of appropriate medications consistent with client's diagnosis and symptom presentation. Will provide individual, family and group counseling as needed and will participate in collaboration of services with community providers as needed.
The Principal Psychiatrist coordinates with primary providers for physical exams on clients when needed; orders laboratory tests and analyzes / interprets laboratory reports. The incumbent coordinates treatments with other therapeutic programs as needed and participates in staff meetings, as well as, representing medical staff in organizational committees at the discretion of medical director. The Principal Psychiatrist will develop and monitor integrated treatment plans, maintain accurate up-to-date medical records according to relevant policies and regulations. The incumbent will prepare required reports according to hospital policy, Joint Commission and other regulatory standards. May assist with other clients/teams as needed. Voluntary on-call coverage and weekend coverage is available at additional reimbursement.
This position, as well as the team, serves a monolingual population and is required to be Bilingual (Spanish).
The SWCMHS, with three locations throughout Fairfield County, promotes and administers comprehensive recovery oriented services in the areas of mental health treatment and substance abuse prevention and treatment. These services include inpatient treatment programs and outpatient clinical services, as well as a wide range of additional supportive treatment services. In addition to a variety of medical and dental plans, the State of Connecticut offers new employees participation in a hybrid retirement plan which provides a retirement benefit, that may include retiree health insurance.
