The State of Connecticut Department of Transportation (DOT), Office of Construction, Division of Materials Testing (DMT) is currently accepting applications for two Transportation Technician Trainee positions. Upon successful completion of the 1 year training program, incumbents will be promoted to the target class of Transportation Technician and with successful performance will advance to the job class of Transportation Materials Technician 2 upon qualification.
These positions are full-time, 40 hours per week and are in the P-4 (Engineering and Scientific) bargaining unit. These positions are located in the DMT Central Laboratory in Rocky Hill. The Transportation Technician Trainee will receive training to perform duties such as physical tests and analyses of materials used in the construction and maintenance of transportation infrastructure, inspection of facilities, equipment, and final products of sources of supply such as quarries and plants, and may transport samples and perform other related duties as required.
A valid driver’s license and availability to travel to perform field work, attend meetings and/or training both within and outside of normal working hours is required. Incumbents in this class must also have adequate physical strength, stamina, physical agility and visual and auditory acuity, and must maintain such physical fitness as to be able to perform the duties. A physical exam may be required.
