The State of Connecticut, Connecticut Airport Authority is recruiting for a full-time Qualified Craft Worker (Electrical) position located at Bradley International Airport. The work schedule for this 37.5 hour per week position is Monday-Friday from 2:30 pm - 10:30 pm, with a half-hour unpaid meal break.
This position works with other QCW trades. This position is responsible for performing a full range of highly skilled duties in the electrical trade including: repair and maintenance of terminal building primary feeders of 4800 volt systems and high voltage runway lighting systems, including obstruction and beacon lighting on towers; indoor and outdoor lighting repairs with aerial equipment; electrical repairs; maintenance and troubleshooting of various building systems including building energy management systems, HVAC systems, emergency generators, fire alarm and sprinkler systems, passenger loading bridges and baggage conveyor systems. Must be able to perform all duties while monitoring airport radio frequencies and communicating with Airport Operations and the Airfield Tower by radio. Emergency situations may require overtime. Incumbents may be required to work Airside or Landside snow removal during winter months.

An individual serving in this position must be able to successfully undergo a thorough background and security screening, physical examination including pre-employment drug screening, fingerprinting and maintain required security clearance during the duration of employment. Incumbents in this class must obtain Bradley movement area certification, allowing them to independently operate vehicles and equipment on Airfield movement areas while effectively communicating with Air Traffic Control for proper clearance. Movement area certification must be maintained during the duration of employment. A valid Motor Vehicle Operator's license is required and must be maintained for the duration of employment. May be exposed to extreme weather.

Performs highly skilled maintenance and/or construction work requiring application of trade skills, codes and standard trade practices in electrical, plumbing, utilities, or HVACR trade areas; makes estimates of time, personnel and determines and obtains required materials; keeps necessary records; may perform duties related to similar trade areas as required; may act as liaison with other operating units and outside contacts; may operate heavy equipment; may respond to fire and/or crash emergency situations at state owned airports; performs related duties as required.
ELECTRICAL: Performs highly skilled tasks in accordance with national and local codes and standard trade practices; lays out and installs electrical conduit for power and lighting; makes repairs to electrical motors, controllers, switchboard panels, traffic lights, lights, power circuits, ventilating fans, electronic counting and traffic control devices, intercommunication systems and electrical generators; installs open and concealed wiring and lighting fixtures; maintains and repairs unit heaters, fans, building maintenance machines and equipment, gas pumps, refrigeration units, diesel electric generators, movable bridges, fire alarm systems, etc.; repairs relays and switches; rewires motors; bends pipes; installs, repairs and maintains oil burners; performs necessary safety testing of electrical equipment and keeps required records; performs pole work; may diagnose failures and repair drilling and patching to facilitate installations; may assist in high voltage work.
