PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

In the Connecticut Technical Education and Career System this class is accountable for educating students in academic and trade coursework in the absence of a regular instructor. 

GUIDELINES FOR JOB CLASS USE

This class may be used in the following ways:
  • to support instructional coverage in situations where a regular instructor is absent and responsible for delivering academic or trade coursework to students.
    • Daily substitutes serving in this capacity are called and are assigned on a daily basis.
  • to recruit and engage candidates who are working toward obtaining the required teaching certification(s) and/or endorsement(s) for a permanent instructor position.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Substituting in Academic Subjects:
  • Incumbents must possess a Bachelor’s degree at the time of appointment. 
Substituting in Trade Subjects:
  • Incumbents must possess at least four (4) years of trade experience.
