Works jointly with other Directors of the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority in administering the Public Utilities laws and in regulating private and public utilities to ensure adequacy of service, reasonableness of rates and safety of operations. As a Regulatory Authority Director, hears judges, and acts on evidence and testimony presented at formal and informal hearings, relative to matters such as rate increases and reductions, matters of public convenience and necessity, consolidation, merger or sale of utilities, public utilities accounting and financing practices, etc.
Incumbents in this class are compensated at a salary equal to that established for MP 75.
Shall be an Elector of this State, appointed by the Governor with the advice and consent of both Houses of the General Assembly in accordance with the provisions of Section 15(a) of the Connecticut General Statutes as amended by Public Act 11-80.
NOTE: Incumbents in this class are subject to the policies governing appointed officials. Incumbents are not subject to Section 5-210 of the Connecticut General Statutes.
