In a state agency, this class is accountable for assisting in the operation of a bookstore and the supervision of employees.
Performs a limited range of duties in bookstore management; assists in maintaining a running inventory and forecasting requirements; supervises or assists in supervising the receiving, issuing and shipping of merchandise; interviews sales representatives; purchases merchandise to be sold in department or assists in purchasing all store stock; supervises assigned sales, clerical or warehouse personnel; maintains housekeeping and security standards; prepares reports and maintains records; may supervise one or more particular store functions; performs related duties as assigned.
Knowledge of the principles and methods of retail purchasing and merchandising; some knowledge of stocking and inventory control methods; communication skills; interpersonal skills; ability to utilize computer software; some supervisory ability.
College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of three (3) years.
