In a state agency this class is accountable for assisting in the operation of a bookstore and the supervision of employees.
Receives general direction from a Bookstore Supervisor or other employee of higher grade.
May lead clerical or other employees as assigned.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Performs a limited range of duties in bookstore management;
Assists in maintaining a running inventory and forecasting requirements;
Supervises or assists in supervising the receiving, issuing and shipping of merchandise;
Interviews sales representatives;
Purchases merchandise to be sold in department or assists in purchasing all store stock;
Supervises assigned sales, clerical or warehouse personnel;
Maintains housekeeping and security standards;
Prepares reports and maintains records;
May supervise one or more particular store functions;
Performs related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
the principles and methods of retail purchasing and merchandising;
stocking and inventory control methods;
Ability to utilize computer software;
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE
Four (4) years of experience in retailing in a bookstore setting.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED
College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of three (3) years.
