This class is accountable for independently performing a full range of tasks involved in shaving and cutting the hair of clients/patients.
Cuts hair and shaves clients/patients in the barber shop and/or on the wards; sharpens, adjusts, cleans and sterilizes razors, clippers, scissors and other equipment; keeps records of all barber services provided to clients/patients; requisitions and maintains stock of barber supplies; cleans work area; performs related duties as required.
Knowledge of and ability to apply barbering skills and techniques; interpersonal skills; some oral and written communication skills.
Possession of a current Master Barber license issued by the Department of Public Health.
Incumbents may be exposed to communicable diseases and to risk of injury from clients/patients.
This replaces the existing specification for the class of Barber in Salary Group TC 13 approved effective January 13, 1989. (2013 SCOPE Review)
