PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

In the Office of the Attorney General this class is responsible for directing and coordinating the specialized and general litigation and appeals activities as well as all other areas of state civil legal business including the providing of legal advice to state agencies and directing general administrative services to legal and support staff.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Works under the general direction of the Attorney General or the Deputy Attorney General.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

  • Considerable knowledge of
    • the duties and powers of the Attorney General; 
    • the methods and problems of administering the work of a large governmental law office; 
  • Knowledge of the substance and application of state and federal laws as they pertain to Connecticut State Government; 
  • Considerable
    • interpersonal skills; 
    • oral and written communication skills; 
  • Considerable administrative ability; 
  • Ability to analyze complex legal problems and apply legal principles and precedents to a particular set of facts.

APPOINTMENT

Appointed by the Attorney General in accordance with the provisions of Section 3-125 of the Connecticut General Statutes.
