Assists the Adjutant General, with rank of Brigadier General, in directing the activities of the State Military Department and acts for him in his absence; plans and coordinates operating, training and other functions of the Military Department; does related work as required.
Exercises supervision over a group of civilian personnel and command over all State military personnel.
Develops recommended plans, policies and operations for approval of Adjutant General; coordinates work of operations, training, intelligence, supply, and other sections, and issues directives to troop units; prepares special military plans and supervises work project assignments; prepares staff conference agenda, participates in such conferences, and in conferences with National Military Establishment; supervises military personnel assignments, order and publications; inspects facilities and troops; performs special research studies and analyzes in military personnel assignments, order and publications; inspects facilities and troops; performs special research studies and analyzes in military matters; acts for and in absence of Adjutant General.
Appointed by the Adjutant General in accordance with the provisions of Section 27-24 of the Connecticut General Statutes. Must have had at least five (5) years of commissioned service in the Connecticut National Guard or the Air Forces of the United States. May not serve after reaching the age of sixty-four (64) years.
