THIS IS A NEW ASSEMBLED EXAMINATION.
The eligible list resulting from this examination will cancel any existing list
and may last approximately one year but can be extended.

properly completed Supplemental Questionnaire must be submitted with each

The Alameda County Social Services Agency (SSA) is
comprised of 2,400 men and women working collectively and in partnership with
community-based organizations to serve the needs of the community. Services are
provided through four departments: Administration and Finance, Adult and Aging
Services, Children and Family Services, and Workforce and Benefits

THE POSITION
This classification is a part of a two-level, flexibly
staffed classification of the Adult Protective Services Worker series, Adult
Protective Services Worker I and II, located in the Adult and Aging Services
Department of the Social Services Agency (SSA). Employees in this
classification will focus on providing protective services to the adult and
elderly community within Alameda County through the adult protective services
intake process.
The Adult Protective Services Worker II classification is distinguished from the higher-level classification of Adult Protective Services Supervisor in that the latter is responsible for providing day-to-day first-line supervision over a group of Adult Protective Services Worker I/II.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
In addition to meeting the minimum qualifications
stated below, the ideal candidate will have:
EITHER I
Experience: The equivalent of one (1) year of full-time experience as an Adult Protective Services Worker I in the Alameda County classified service.
OR II
Education: Possession of a bachelor’s degree, including 30 semester or 45 quarter units in social/human services, sociology, gerontology, social welfare, psychology, or a related behavioral science field.
AND
Experience: The equivalent of three (3) years of full-time experience providing ongoing social casework and/or counseling services to the elderly and/or adults with disabilities.
Substitution: Possession of a master’s degree in social welfare, counseling, psychology, gerontology, or a related behavioral science field, from an accredited college or university, may substitute for two (2) years of the required work experience in pattern II.
OR III
Education: Possession of a master’s degree in social welfare, counseling, psychology, gerontology, or a related behavioral science field from an accredited college or university, which includes completion of two (2) semesters of graduate field placement, or mental health disabilities, including intensive casework, counseling, and /or protective services.
License: Possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle Operator's license.

THE EXAMINATION WILL CONSIST OF THE FOLLOWING
STEPS:
1.
A review of applicants' applications to verify possession of minimum
requirements. Those candidates who possess the minimum requirements for the
class will move on to the next step in the testing process;
2. An oral examination which will be weighted as 100% of the candidate's final
examination score. The oral interview may contain situational exercises.
Candidates must attain a qualifying rating on each portion of this examination.
