THIS IS A NEW PROMOTIONAL ASSEMBLED
EXAMINATION. The eligible list resulting from this
examination will cancel any existing list and may last approximately one year
but can be extended. Qualified applicants must be current county employees and
have completed the equivalent of six months of continuous service following a
regular appointment in the Alameda County classified service (non-classified
includes the District Attorney’s Office, the Medical Center, and the Superior
Court) by the last day for filing of this recruitment. A regular appointment
does not include provisional, TAP (Temporary Assignment Pool), or STEP-UP
appointments.

The Alameda County Social Services Agency (SSA) is
comprised of 2,400 men and women working collectively and in partnership with
community-based organizations to serve the needs of the community. Services are
provided through four departments: Administration and Finance, Adult and Aging
Services, Children and Family Services, and Workforce and Benefits

THE POSITION:
Under direction, to plan, organize and supervise the work
of a unit of Eligibility Services Technicians engaged in determining initial
and continuing eligibility for one or more public assistance programs; and to
perform related work as required.
IDEAL CANDIDATE:
The ideal candidate for the position of Supervising Eligibility Technician will have basic knowledge of and direct work experience in the administering of Benefits Programs, including but not limited to Medi-Cal, CalWORKs, Cal Fresh, General Assistance and Foster Care programs. The candidate has excellent communication and interpersonal skills and is able to work well with culturally diverse employees and clients. The candidate has demonstrated leadership skills developed through past work or volunteer experiences. The candidate is also resourceful, self-motivated and quickly grasps new concepts and is able to effectively disseminate new information to staff and clients.

THE EXAMINATION WILL CONSIST OF the
following steps: 1) A review of candidates' applications to verify possession
of minimum requirements. Those candidates who possess the minimum requirements
for the class will move on to the next step in the examination process. 2)
Applicants that meet the minimum qualifications will be invited to take a
written examination. Those candidates that pass the written examination
will be invited to the next step of the examination. 3) An oral
interview which will be weighted as 100% of the candidate's final examination
score. The oral interview may contain situational exercises.
