Thank you for your interest in the position of Fire Dispatcher Trainee! Applicants for this position are required to submit responses to the following supplemental questions. Your completed responses to the Supplemental Questionnaire will be evaluated to determine your qualifications and must be completed properly in order to be given full consideration for the next phase in the selection process.

Please attach a scanned copy of your typing certificate for verification with your online application under the RESUME TAB. Please scan all related documents and upload as (1) one file with your application. You may only upload one file under the RESUME tab. Should you need assistance finding an establishment to perform a typing test, you may visit the link below for a list of places where typing tests are offered.

Please note that online typing test certificates will NOT be accepted. Should you decide to not submit a typing certificate, you will need to take a typing test administered by us to verify your ability to type 40 wpm.

It is the candidate's responsibility to ensure the following:

1) The typing certificate is on official documentation/letterhead; and

2) The typing certificate includes:

  • The candidate's full name
  • Words Per Minute
  • Accuracy
  • Date (Needs to be within 6 months from the date you submit your application)

Candidates must pass a psychological evaluation, a medical examination and a thorough background evaluation after an offer of employment is made. A Computer Voice Stress Analyzer examination will also be included in the process to assess candidate's responses in the areas of drug use, driving history, honesty, racial discrimination, and sexual harassment. Any felony conviction will result in disqualification. Candidates must be US citizens.

Incumbents in this classification are expected to work 12-hour shifts, and may also be required to work holidays, weekends and up to 18-hour shifts when needed. There is mandatory overtime.
