Applicants for this position are required to submit responses to the following supplemental questions.  Your completed responses to the supplemental questionnaire will be evaluated to determine your qualifications and must be completed properly in order to be given full consideration for the next phase in the selection process. Additionally, your responses will also be evaluated and used in the selection process in order to identify the best qualified applicants. 

Responses should be thorough and specific.  A lack of detail and explanation in the supplemental questions and in your application may result in failure or disqualification for this position.  Clarity of expression, content, experience, grammar, spelling and the ability to follow instructions will be considered in the evaluation process.  A resume will not be accepted as a substitute for properly completed responses.

Describe your educational background, knowledge of laws and regulations and your work experience pertaining to the following CUPA programs. Include the organization where you gained the experience, dates of employment, your title, your role and related responsibilities, and a description of your primary duties including regulatory or enforcement capacity.

  • Hazardous Materials Business Plan (HMBP)
  • Hazardous Waste Generator and Tiered Permitting
  • Underground Storage Tank (UST)
  • Aboveground Petroleum Storage Act (APSA)
  • California Accidental Release Prevention (CalARP)

Do you currently possess two years of increasingly responsible experience in storm water and waste tire pollution prevention programs; investigating occupational, community and environmental health hazards; and responding to emergency hazardous materials incidents? Describe your work experience including the organization where you gained the experience, dates of employment, your title, your role and related responsibilities, and a description of your primary duties.

Describe your work experience and certifications related to health and safety, chemical and soil science, industrial hygiene, engineering, environmental sampling including interpreting analytical results and remediation/cleanup. Provide specific examples of how you ensured safety in the field.

Describe your work experience and certifications as an inspector of underground and aboveground tanks. Include examples of specific projects you have worked on including testing, assessment and removal of tanks.

Describe your work experience in data management and using electronic devices. Include software/programs, devices and databases you are proficient in including the California Environmental Reporting System (CERS) and how many years of experience using each in the field as an inspection tool and for maintaining accurate files/records.

Describe your work experience in environmental compliance including preparing technical reports and enforcement letters such as Administrative Enforcement Order (AEOs); and relevant legal experience.

List examples of educational outreach, trainings and public meetings you have accomplished including dates and your specific role.
