KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
The most suitably qualified candidates will possess the following competencies:
NOTE: The level and scope of the following knowledge and abilities are related to duties listed under the “Examples of Duties” section of this specification.
Knowledge of:
• Automotive parts, equipment, accessories and tools used in vehicle repair and maintenance.
• Vehicle repair and maintenance procedures and terminology.
• Stock and inventory control and record-keeping systems.
• Techniques of receiving, storing and issuing supplies.
• Local automotive parts and equipment suppliers and vendors.
• Basic research and filing techniques.
• Operation of standard equipment and machinery related to the job.
Ability to:
• Keep accurate records, complete standard forms, and make simple arithmetical calculations.
• Requisition and maintain a variety of parts and related supplies.
• Work independently.
• Maintain effective working relationships.
• Read, write and speak clearly and effectively.
The examination will consist of the following steps: A review of candidates' applications to verify possession of minimum requirements. Those candidates who possess the minimum requirements for the class will move on to the next step in the examination process which is a performance examination weighted as (30%) of the candidate’s final examination score or which will be qualifying only. Those candidates scoring highest on the written exam will move on to the next step in the examination process, an oral interview which will be weighted as (70%) of the candidate's final examination score. The oral interview may contain situational exercises. CANDIDATES MUST ATTAIN A QUALIFYING RATING ON EACH PORTION OF THIS EXAMINATION. We reserve the right to make changes to the announced examination components.
