The Position

Current Solano County employees are invited to apply for this promotional opportunity!

Under direction, the Clerical Operations Supervisor plans, organizes and supervises the activities of a clerical unit performing routine work of average difficulty and complexity in the processing on documents and records; serves as a member of the department’s management/supervisory team; performs related duties as required.

The eligible list created as a result of this recruitment will be used to fill part-time and full-time regular, limited-term or extra-help positions as vacancies occur throughout the County.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Experience:

High school diploma or GED; supplemented by three (3) years of full-time work experience, including eighteen (18) months in a lead capacity, which demonstrates possession of and competency in the requisite knowledge and abilities.

Positions in the District Attorney, Public Defender and County Counsel offices require a High school diploma or GED; supplemented by three (3) years of Legal Secretary experience, preferably in a California District Attorney, Public Defender or County Counsel’s office.

Certification:

Applicants are required to demonstrate intermediate word processing skills through the passing of a County approved test. (See "Document Submittal Requirements" section below for details.)

Other:

Must be a current Solano County employee.

BENEFITS

n Solano County offers a cafeteria-style medical package with health benefits, offered through CalPERS. The County contribution for family coverage for the 2018 calendar year is $1,520.73 per month. The County offers a cash back provision for those who choose employee-only or who waive medical insurance coverage. The County may offer a supplemental contribution for employees enrolled in Employee plus Two or More coverage.


n Dental and vision insurances for the employee and eligible dependents are paid 100% by the County.  

 

n Solano County participates in CalPERS retirement and contributes to Social Security.  

 

n Vacation is accrued at approximately 10 days per year for the first 3 years. Sick leave accrues at approximately 12 days per year.

Selection Process

03/14/18 - County Word Processing test (see Document Submittal Requirements section for more information).

03/19/18 - Deadline to submit application and any required documents.

03/29/18 - Tentative date for Written Examination.

04/12/18 - Tentative date for Oral Board exam for most qualified applicants.

Based on the information provided in the application documents, the qualified applicants may be invited for further examination and will either be pre-scheduled by the Department of Human Resources or be invited to self-schedule. All applicants meeting the minimum qualifications are not guaranteed advancement through any subsequent phase of the examination. Depending upon the number of applications received, the selection process may consist of an initial application screening, a mandatory information meeting, a supplemental questionnaire assessment, a written and/or practical exam, an oral board exam, or any combination listed. Responses to supplemental questions may be used as screening and testing mechanisms and will be used to assess an applicant’s ability to advance in the process; as such, responses to supplemental questions should be treated as test examination responses. A minimum score of 70% is required to continue in the selection process, unless otherwise announced.

Document Submittal Requirements

This position requires submittal of a valid Intermediate Word Processing certificate by the final filing deadline. All candidates must submit a copy of their Intermediate Word Processing certificate by the final filing date. Failure to submit the required certificates will result in immediate disqualification from further consideration in the recruitment process.

Certificate Requirements

An Intermediate Word Processing certificate must show proficiency at 70% or higher. It may not be more than 12 months old at the time of application, must be from an accredited school or a qualified agency, and must contain the examiner’s signature. Certificates obtained through the internet (online) will not be accepted.

Certificate Testing 

The County is offering a Word Processing test at no cost, for applicants only, on March 14, 2018 for the Clerical Operations Supervisor recruitment only. This is the only date available. Interested applicants who have completed and submitted the recruitment application must send an email to recruitment@solanocounty.com no later than March 12 at 1:00 pm.

If applicants are unable to attend the County certificate testing, applicants must still submit a copy of a valid certificate by the final filing deadline. Test/certification results may not be more than 12-months old at the time of application, to include test results that were proctored by Solano County.
