Pool Manager (#TC9262)
DEFINITIONUnder direction, this temporary/part-time position manages the aquatic program swimming pool operations and performs lifeguard duties and swim instruction; and does related or other work as required. CLASS CHARACTERISTICSPool Manager is a one-position class that assists the aquatic program director with the daily pool operations of summer aquatic programs. The incumbent is responsible for the on-site management of pool operations including supervising and training staff, and maintaining swimming pool facilities in accordance with state and county health department guidelines. TYPICAL DUTIESAssists in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling and evaluating staff, including lifeguards, swim instructors and pool attendants, within county and state guidelines; conducts staff orientation and in-service training.
Operates and maintains swimming pools and facilities in accordance with county and state health department guidelines pertaining to pool operation, water chemistry and safety equipment; orders equipment; supervises the general care and cleaning of the facility and the maintenance and minor repair of equipment; properly opens and/or closes facility.
Treats and remedies unsafe conditions immediately; supervises the maintenance of records and reports regarding hourly patron attendance, water chemistry, daily weather conditions and incidents.
Answers patron questions and concerns and provides information as needed; reports and treats all patron and pool problems; enforces the facility policies, rules and regulations; communicates to the aquatic program director and performs additional duties as assigned by the aquatic program director.
Coordinates with school district maintenance personnel, county departments and other local agencies and community groups.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation: Graduation from high school or equivalent. Experience: Three full seasons of experience (equivalent to at least 9 months) leading, directing or providing supervision of aquatic related activities in an organized aquatic youth instruction program.
Special Requirements: Must be 21 years of age at the time of appointment. ABILITYLead, evaluate and supervise the work of staff; administer and teach swimming classes; communicate effectively with diverse groups of patrons, including children; keep records and write reports; promote aquatic programs; coordinate staffing schedules; conduct specialized staff training; provide information to the public about pool and facility regulations, policies and procedures; perform pool maintenance; administer first aid and CPR as needed.
