Weights & Measures Inspector II (#RA0401)
DEFINITIONUnder general supervision, performs a variety of responsible technical work in inspecting and conducting tests of weighing and measuring devices and packaged commodities for compliance with State Weights and Measures laws and regulations; and does related or other work as required in accordance with Rule 3, Section 3 of the Civil Service Rules. CLASS CHARACTERISTICSThis is the journey level class in the Weights and Measures series. An employee in this class is a journey level Weights and Measures Inspector, licensed in at least three licensing categories. Work is performed independently in accordance with established procedures and techniques, but is subject to review or supervision while in progress. TYPICAL DUTIES
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSLicense: Possession of three valid licenses as a Weights and Measures Inspector Issued by the California Department of Food and Agriculture. Possession of a valid Class C California driver’s license. Possession of a valid Class B California driver’s license, if required by nature of assignment. KNOWLEDGEThe laws, rules and regulations relating to the use of commercial weighing and measuring devices; the methods and techniques used in verifying the accuracy of such devices within allowed tolerance. ABILITYEstablish and maintain effective public relations; enforce laws, rules and regulations firmly, tactfully and impartially; prepare clear and concise reports; understand and carry out oral and written instructions; use and maintain various testing instruments and devices utilized in the weights and measures field; lift and carry 50 pounds; lift and carry a 5-gallon container of liquid for a distance of 50 feet.
