Definition

Under general supervision, to administer the network infrastructure, including data, wireless, and telecom/VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) communications; and to do other work as required.

Distinguishing Characteristics

This is the advanced journey level class in the network/communications series.? Incumbents typically lead the work of assigned staff and act as mentors.? Incumbents perform complex, difficult and varied duties.? Incumbents receive limited supervision or direction from higher-level staff and exercise independent judgment regarding high-impact infrastructure implementations.? Contact with customers/users generally pertains to resolving highly challenging and/or high-impact issues or establishing strategic initiatives. Errors could jeopardize the assigned project(s) and may have significant financial exposure across the enterprise. Legal exposure, financial impact, and lost time resulting from data management errors are significant.
