To plan, organize, direct and supervise an assigned building maintenance work unit within the Building Maintenance Division of the Facilities Management Department; to coordinate work unit activities with other work units, sections, divisions, departments, and outside contractors; and to perform a variety of technical tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.
The Supervisor level recognizes positions that perform full first-line supervision including planning, assigning, monitoring, and evaluating the work of subordinates and are responsible for ensuring the success and effectiveness of an assigned work unit within the Building Maintenance Division.
Receives general direction from a Senior Supervising Building Crafts Mechanic and/or management staff.
Exercises direct supervision over assigned building maintenance and custodial staff.
Work is typically performed in indoor and outdoor environments with variable temperature conditions. May require travel to and from other locations in a variety of outdoor weather conditions. Depending on area of assignment, additional background clearance with the Department of Justice (DOJ) may be required.
Experience and Training
Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience: Two (2) years of increasingly responsible work experience performing duties similar to a Senior Building Crafts Mechanic with Placer County.
Training: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by course work in building trades, general construction management, project management, supervision, or a related field.
