County Parks and Recreation Superintendent (#CO0338)

Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this job exists is to oversee Montgomery County Recreation Department activities.  This position involves administrative duties as a department head and supervisory work over recreation staff members.  Job duties include overseeing the development and administration of recreation programs; preparing yearly budget and monitoring expenditures; researching and implementing a master plan for locating county parks and community centers; overseeing the maintenance of existing community centers, athletic fields and parks; performing public relations activities in collaboration with the Montgomery County Commission and Montgomery County Recreation Board; coordinating efforts with other county departments, and supervising recreational staff members.  This position reports to the County Administrator and the Montgomery County Recreation Board. 

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in administration, recreation, education or a related field and two (2) years' experience in recreational programming or an equivalent combination of education and experience that would provide the necessary skills and abilities required to perform the job. 

NOTE:  Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.
