Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this classification exists is to manage the Geographic Information System (GIS) and cadastral mapping activities of Montgomery County for ad valorem tax purposes. The incumbent of this class exercises administrative and technical supervision to employees who utilize GIS software for the creation and maintenance of cadastral and various other types of specialized maps and geospatial data. The work responsibilities are: oversees Mapping Division operations; supervises two or more full time employees; oversees and participates in the creation and maintenance of cadastral and specialized maps; and performs Mapping Division administrative duties.  The Mapping Coordinator is supervised by the Chief Appraiser.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in GIS, Geography, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience utilizing geographic information systems to perform cadastral mapping activities, to include two (2) years of experience as a lead worker or supervisor.  Must have and maintain an Alabama Certified Mapper (ACM) designation.

 

 

NOTE:  Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.

Special Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Alabama driver’s license as needed to operate a motor vehicle.
