Gymnastics Supervisor (#CI7679)

Nature of Work

The fundamental reason this classification exists is to perform professional and administrative work managing a Citywide recreational and competitive gymnastics program. The essential functions are:  plans, organizes and coordinates a recreational and competitive gymnastics program; supervises two of more full-time employees; manages the City gymnastics facility; prepares, administers and monitors operating and instructional budget; and promotes the gymnastics program in the community.  The Gymnastics Supervisor reports to the Cultural Arts Director.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Recreation or related field. Five years of progressively responsible experience managing a recreational and competitive men's and women's gymnastics program to include facility management and supervision of coaches and instructors or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience may be substituted for the required education on a year for year basis.

NOTE:  Qualifying education, training and experience that provide the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job will be considered.


Special Requirements

Must possess a valid Alabama driver's license as needed to travel to gymnastic competitions with teams.  Must be willing to work flexible working hours to include weekends.  Ability to lift equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.  Physical activity may include climbing stairs and standing on gym floor.
