Summary Statement

This position will oversee all aspects within the Cape Henlopen State Park campground and will be the first point of contact for public, camp hosts, campground fee collectors and camp store staff. Responsibilities will include working within the campground registrar booth and camp store, enforcing campground regulations, helping public with site issues and other duties as required.  Applicants must be able to work weekends and holidays as scheduled.

Essential Functions

  • Manage and oversee the Campground Store including but not limited to keeping an inventory, ordering supplies, and handling sales.
  • Coordinate with vendors, staff and volunteers to meet the needs of campground residents.
  • Provide customer services by explaining regulations, answering visitor requests, needs and complaints, and providing information about the park and surrounding areas.
  • Supervise and support the campground registrar booth. 
  • Works with Volunteer Coordinator to oversee Camp Hosts, and makes sure they complete their daily tasks.
  • Updates the Park Manager and Maintenance Supervisor of any and all issues that occur in the campground.
  • Inspect campground sites and cabins routinely to determine necessity of repairs or maintenance and report issues to Park Manager or Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Must be able to demonstrate responsibility, dependability and good communication skills.
  • Maintain a positive attitude.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas.

  1. One year experience in interpreting rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  2. One year experience in office operations and functions such as operating office machines, handling incoming and outgoing mail, postal and shipping services, answering phones, directing calls and taking messages; file maintenance; maintaining and updating supplies.
  3. One year experience in cash handling, writing receipts.
  4. One year experience using Microsoft Office Programs including Outlook, Excel, and Publisher.
  5. Six month experience of supervising staff or volunteers
  6. Possession of a valid driver's license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).
