An employee in this class performs the more simple and routine office and field duties involved in the acquisition of real property and related interests for state highway purposes.

Essential Functions

  • Assists Right-of-Way agents in compiling property information from public records.
     
  • Assists in preparation of scale drawings of land and improvements from field measurements and deed descriptions.
     
  • Assists in collecting and tabulating data on real estate sales, rentals and associated costs and compilation of data for eminent domain proceedings.
     
  • Assists in the inspection of real property and the inventory of items to be involved in acquisition or relocation.
     
  • Inspects state owned properties for proper maintenance and identification of encroachments.
     
  • Learns to interpret plans and perform uncomplicated appraisals, negotiations and relocations.
     
  • Learns procedures for real property conveyancing.
     
  • Assists in the clearance of improvements from the right-of-way and disposition of surplus state properties.

Job Requirements

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Assistant Right-of-Way Agent
Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:

  1. Knowledge of real estate such as appraisal, law, real property acquisition, property management or title examination.
  2. Knowledge of blueprints, property and technical drawings.
  3. Knowledge of math such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, or decimals.
  4. Knowledge of narrative report writing.

Pre-employment Drug Testing:  Upon a conditional offer, you must undergo pre-employment drug testing as part of the hiring process.

Criminal background check:  A satisfactory criminal background check is required as a condition of hire.  The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the criminal background check as part of the conditional offer of hire.
