PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

In the Department of Motor Vehicles, Administrative Services Division, this class is accountable for managing the programs and operations of the Central Services Section.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Receives administrative or executive direction from a Motor Vehicle Division Manager or an administrative official of higher grade.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

Manages staff of section.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

  • Manages the programs, operations, and staff of the Central Services Section, including central mail services, duplicating operations, and the production of motor vehicle titles;
  • Coordinates, plans, and manages section activities;
  • Formulates program goals and objectives; 
  • Assists in the development of related policy;
  • Evaluates staff;
  • Assists in the preparation of section budget;
  • Maintains contacts with individuals both within and outside of the section who might impact program activities;
  • Directs statewide warehousing and supply operations, including shipping/receiving, physical and perpetual inventories, and the delivery system;
  • Directs and controls the receipt and distribution of registration plates, validation stickers, and related certificates;
  • Manages the agency's program of public records retention;
  • Oversees motor vehicle control services;
  • Participates in the recruitment and hiring of staff, including outreach, interview and selection;
  • Performs related duties as required.

    • centralized mail services and duplicating operations;

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

Eight (8) years of experience in large scale central mail and/or duplicating operations, warehousing, or inventory control.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SPECIAL EXPERIENCE

Two (2) years of the General experience must have been in a supervisory capacity.

NOTE: Supervisory capacity is defined as scheduling, assigning, overseeing work, and establishing performance standards for employees and taking corrective measures to implement those standards.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED

College training may be substituted for the General experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this class may be required to travel in the course of their daily work.
