PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

In the Department of Public Health, Facility Licensing and Investigation Section this class is accountable for assisting in technical duties relating to the professional licensure and certification programs.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Works under the general supervision of an employee of higher grade in the performance of assigned tasks; receives closer supervision when performing more advanced tasks.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

May lead paraprofessional and clerical employees as assigned.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

  • Assists professional staff in the administration of the licensure and certification program; 
  • Receives, reviews and evaluates applications for health professions; 
  • Administers licensing examinations; 
  • Prepares narrative and statistical reports on licensing activities; 
  • Composes informational material on licensure requirements and procedures; 
  • Provides information to applicants; 
  • Acts as liaison with professional boards and commissions; 
  • Attends board meetings and provides assistance when requested; 
  • Conducts research, data collection and analysis; 
  • Performs special projects; 
  • Meets with various state and national professional associations; 
  • Provides technical assistance to clerical staff; 
  • Performs related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

Five (5) years of experience in professional or complex clerical work involving professional licensure, certification or testing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - SUBSTITUTIONS ALLOWED

College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (l5) semester hours equalling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Incumbents in this class may be required to travel within the State in the course of their daily work.
  • Incumbents in this class may be required to possess and retain a valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s license.
