PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

This class is accountable for supervising the activities of a duplication unit or for acting as an assistant to a Duplicating Services Supervisor 2 in a large operation (considering volume, numbers supervised and complexity).

GUIDELINES FOR JOB CLASS USE

Supervises a staff of duplicating service personnel (usually (1-5) involved in duplicating operations.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

Receives general direction from an employee of higher grade.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

Supervises or assists in the supervision of an assigned staff.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

  • Schedules, assigns, oversees and reviews the work of staff;
  • Provides staff training and assistance;
  • Conducts performance evaluations;
  • Determines priorities and plans unit work;
  • Establishes and maintains unit procedures;
  • Develops or makes recommendations on the development of policies and standards;
  • Acts as liaison with other operating units, agencies and outside officials regarding unit policies and procedures;
  • Prepares reports and correspondence;
  • Performs repairs on all equipment including auxiliary equipment;
  • Oversees inventory and reorders supplies when necessary;
  • May supervise the operation of check processing equipment;
  • Performs related duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

  • Knowledge of
    • duplicating processes and materials including papers, inks, chemicals and camera processes;
    • office practices and procedures; 
  • Skills
    • interpersonal skills;
    • oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to
    • operate various duplicating equipment;
    • make minor repairs;
    • identify duplicating problems and propose solutions;
    • read, interpret and explain complex procedures;
    • utilize computer software;
  • Supervisory ability.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS - GENERAL EXPERIENCE

Three (3) years of experience in the operation, adjustment and maintenance of duplicating equipment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Incumbents in this class must have adequate physical strength, stamina, physical agility and visual and auditory acuity, and must maintain such physical fitness as to be able to perform the duties.
  • A physical examination may be required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Incumbents may be required to lift moderate weight; may be exposed to noise from duplicating equipment.
