PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

Administers and directs the activities of the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

The Commissioner of Mental Health and Addiction Services shall be a qualified person with a Master's degree or higher in a health related field and at least ten (10) years of experience in hospital, health, mental health or substance abuse administration.

APPOINTMENT

Appointed by the Governor with the advice of the Board of Mental Health in accordance with the provisions of Sections 4-5 through 4-8, and 17a-450(a) of the Connecticut General Statutes.
