DESCRIPTION
This series specification describes two levels of the Professional/Technical Specialist SAN (TAP) classifications, which under general direction provide services in a variety of job categories performing duties as required. Employees perform these services in order to provide coverage to agencies/departments for special projects, long-term leave, related temporary staffing needs or to temporarily fill a vacant position during a recruitment process.

DISTINGUISHING FEATURES

The class series of Professional/Technical Specialist SAN (TAP) is composed of positions that are filled on a temporary basis through the Alameda County Temporary Assignment Pool (TAP) program. The duration of an assignment will vary depending on the need. Employees are appointed provisionally and provide services to departments/agencies countywide. Responsibilities are determined for the specific positions within the department/agency where the employee is assigned and the employee will report to a department supervisor. The allocation of positions in this class series is limited to the Human Resource Services Department.

This class series is distinguished from permanent full-time classifications in that employees in these classifications perform duties on a temporary basis as determined by the assignment, project or program needs.

The Professional/Technical Specialist I SAN (TAP) class is further distinguished from the next higher-level one of Professional/Technical Specialist II SAN (TAP) in that the latter is designated as an 80-hour class performing duties respectively in this classification as determined by the specific assignment/position.
